excess burst size (Be)

The Excess Burst Size (Be) is a dynamic bandwidth allocation in the Frame Relay (FR).

The network operator can specify the committed information rate (CIR) via the excess burst size or the bandwidth requirement via the committed burst size (Bc).

The Excess Burst Size specifies the amount of data by which the Committed Burst Size can be exceeded in a certain time interval if there is excess capacity in the frame relay network. The maximum transmission rate of the frame relay connection results from the committed burst size and the excess burst size.
