ensation
Ensation is a radio system developed by Philips for wireless transmission of audio in buildings.
Ensation works with a broadband radio channel that can be switched between 300 kHz and 1 MHz. It also has a much shorter latency of only 20 ms compared to Bluetooth and WiFi.
In Europe, error-corrected transmission takes place in the frequency range from 863 MHz to 865 MHz and in the USA between 902 MHz and 928 MHz. Ensation uses two- or three-stage frequency shift ke ying with a Gaussianfilter (2GFSK, 3GFSK) as the modulation method. The data transmission rateis between 150 kbit/s and 500 kbit/s depending on the required audio quality. The range is to be up to 30 m with a transmission power inside the building.
