kilohertz (kHz)
The unit hertz for frequency is provided with various prefixes. For example, one kilohertz (kHz) is one thousand vibrations per second.
The quantity kilohertz covers a part of the human hearing range and is therefore used for acoustic signals, just like the basic unit hertz. Thus, the hertz and kilohertz are used to indicate the frequency range of acoustic components, microphones, amplifiers and loudspeakers, but also for voice transmission in the classic telephone network( POTS) and for audio codecs and audio compression. As far as the radiation of electromagnetic waves is concerned, the long wave from 30 kHz to 300 kHz and parts of the medium wave are in the kilohertz range.
As far as the wavelength ranges are concerned, these are myriameter waves and kilometer waves.
