electromagnetic interference safety margin (EMISM)

The Electromagnetic Interference Safety Guidelines (EMISM) describe interference levels for equipment to be considered during development under worst-case conditions for the effect of electromagnetic interference( EMI). The limits for safety distances against electromagnetic interference are divided into three categories:

Category I: Life-threatening interference, conditions and influences that lead to the destruction of equipment.

Category II: The reduction of the functionality of equipment.

Category III: The loss of non-essential functions for a facility.

Depending on the requirement, levels from 0 dB to 30 dB are to be considered.
