electromagnetic interference (EMI)

Electromagnetic Interference(EMI), Electromagnetic Interference(EMI), is an influence on the functionality of circuits, devices, systems and also living beings caused by magnetic and electric fields. These radiations are caused by the change of currents.

All electronic devices emit emissions as a result of electromagnetic activities and thus interfere with each other. Causes can also be natural phenomena.

Electromagnetic interference leads, for example, to potential problems, interference in electronic switching circuits in broadcasting equipment and mobile radio, or data loss in data-processing equipment. Typical sources of radiation are transformers, motors, fluorescent lamps, transmitters, switches, monitors, transmitters, etc. The resistance of equipment and cabling to electromagnetic interference is defined in electromagnetic compatibility( EMC) and specified in DIN VDE 0843.
