3570 Tape Drive

3570 is an IBM format for tape drives. The technology, which was introduced in 1996, is based on a so-called center-loading technique. In order to reduce access times, this technique rewinds the tape to the center of the tape, which optimizes the times for forward or rewind. The data transfer rate is 6 MB/s, the storage capacity of a cartridge is 5 GB.
