digital radio mondial plus (DRM+)

The DRM radio is designed for the shortwave range, mediumwave range and longwave range. The further development is called DRM+ and operates in the VHF range in Band I and Band II.

DRM+ has a bandwidth of 95 kHz and thus fits well into the channel grid of VHF broadcasting with 100 kHz. DRM+ achieves a usable transmission rate of 186 kbit/s with this bandwidth in the multiplex. Such a DRM+ multiplex channel can additionally transmit four different audio programs, which are compressed using Advanced Audio Coding( AAC).
