digital print order format (DPOF)

The Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) are specifications for printing image files from memory cards. The information is written directly to the memory card of the digital camera and can be processed by printers, copiers and imagesetters.

The standard developed by manufacturers includes information about the number of photos to be printed, user information, image numbers, print size, address data, date, image descriptions, processing-specific information, etc.

The DPOF files can be transferred via the memory card or USB interface in a photo kiosk and printed or sent to a photo service via the Internet. They can also be transferred to cell phones or played back automatically for presentation.
