continuous ARQ (HDLC)

Continuous ARQ is a variant of the Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) transmission security.

The Continuous ARQ method is a credit method in which the Data Communication Equipment( DCE) is granted a credit via the window size for a certain number of data blocks that it can send unacknowledged. This measure increases data throughput compared to stop-and-wait ARQ with single- block acknowledgement. Examples of Continuous ARQ are High Level Data Link Control( HDLC) according to X.25 and Synchronous Data Link Control( SDLC).
