The charging infrastructure deals with the charging possibilities of electrically powered vehicles. These can be electric vehicles (EV), but also e-bikes or e-scooters. The charging infrastructure is about the structure, supply and networking of the charging stations and charging points
, as well as the access and billing techniques for the amount of energy taken. The charging infrastructure includes the parking spaces with the charging stations. A distinction is made between public and private charging infrastructure. While the public charging infrastructure can be used by everyone, the private charging infrastructure can only be used by authorized groups of people, such as company employees. The public charging facilities are located on public properties, on public roads and squares. In contrast, private charging stations are located on private or company property. If the charging infrastructure is located on publicly accessible but privately owned land, such as car parks of cinemas or supermarkets, it is referred to as semi-public charging infrastructure.
