cell delay variation tolerance (ATM) (CDVT)

The Cell Delay Variation Tolerance (CDVT) is a parameter for the traffic characteristics of ATM networks.

The Cell Delay Variation Tolerance (CDVT) can be used to change the traffic characteristics by inserting the changeable cell delay( CDV).

When the ATM cells of two or more ATM links are multiplexed, this allows the cells to be delayed while the cells of another link are inserted at the multiplexer output. In addition, cells could be delayed in a similar manner to reduce overhead or to insert Operation, Administration, and Maintenance ( OAM) cells.
