A Branch Office Box (BOB) is a server in a branch office that is optimized as an appliance for simple, local utility functions.

As a BOB server, it can perform general office tasks when wide- area connections are unstable. BOB servers are generally used for communication with the corporate headquarters, but can also operate autonomously in the event of connection interruptions.
