SDH layered model

The SDH layer model consists of the physical layer, which is usually implemented using optical transmission media, but may also include microwave links or satellite links.

Above this layer is the regenerator layer, which comprises the regenerator sections. Within this layer, signalling takes place via the Regenerator Section Overhead ( RSOH).
