Eutelsat is a European operator of communications satellites for the transmission of television, radio and telecommunications services. Eutelsat was founded in 1982; its members are European countries.

Eutelsat satellites are geostationary satellites covering all continents. The satellite system comprises over 20 satellites, including Hotbird, Eurobird, W satellites, Sesat and Atlantic Gate, occupying 16 positions in orbit. In total, Eutelsat satellites broadcast more than 1,400 television channels and over 700 radio channels. In addition, the satellites also act as an Internet backbone between the continents. Eutelsat's transponders are located in the Ku-band in the frequency range between 10.7 GHz and 12.75 GHz, the orbit for Eutelsat W2 is at 16° East and that of Hotbird at 13° East.
