Cell/B.E. processor

Cell/B.E. processor is a chip developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba in which several parallel computing units are integrated on one chip. The IBM derivative is called PowerXCell8i.

The technology with multiple parallel computing units significantly increases computing speed and offers substantial efficiency advantages.

The Cell/B.E. processor consists of different processor cores and recognizes hybrid concepts at the chip level and is used in supercomputers. The goal is hybrid computing with computing power of petaflops, which cannot be achieved with previous technology.
