time to first fix (GPS) (TTFF)
Time to First Fix (TTFF) is the time it takes for a GPS receiver to determine its position for the first time after it is switched on.
The Time to First Fix is normally several minutes, but can be shortened to 1 second by Assisted GPS( AGPS). Shortening the TTFF time is especially important in emergency situations. There are techniques that can reduce the TTFF to about 5 seconds without sacrificing precision in GPS positioning.
