short reach (10GbE) (SR)
With Energy Efficient Ethernet( EEE), also known as Green Ethernet, there are various operating modes with which the power consumption can be reduced. The Energy Detect mode and the Short Reach mode are worth mentioning.
In Energy Detect mode, energy is saved by the fact that when a connection is inactive, the switch port also becomes inactive and does not consume any power. Since the port management is still active, it immediately switches to the operating mode as soon as data packets are transmitted.
The second operating mode is the energy detect mode. This energy-saving mode works with short cable lengths, adapting the energy requirement to the short cable lengths.
