ring parameter server (TR) (RPS)

The Ring ParameterServer (RPS) is a component of a Token Ring which, during the insertion of a station into an active Token Ring, queries certain ring parameters of the adapters and manages them.

Some basic settings of the adapters must be changed with regard to their parameters, since, among other things, the ring line length changes when a station is added. The RPS server can change the ring parameters Physical Drop Number, Local Ring Number, Allowed Access Priority, Soft Error Report Timer and Authorized Environment. The functional MAC address of the Ring Parameter Server is C0 00 00 00 02.
