open buying on the Internet (eCommerce) (OBI)

Open Buying on the Internet (OBI) is a nonprofit organization that developed an open standard of the same name for e-business over the Internet.

Originating from the Internet Purchasing Roundtable, it was adopted by the OBI consortium and ensures that different e-commerce systems can communicate with each other. The OBI standard applies to products and e-services in cross-company e-business and m-business and supports the integration of electronic business solutions.

Members of the OBI organization are sales organizations, technology companies and financial institutions.
