network information table (Satellit) (NIT)

The Network Information Table (NIT) is a table that is transmitted in the DVB-Stransport stream and contains all the specifications of the transponders and the programs.

This includes the transmission frequencies, bandwidth, audio subcarriers and symbol rates. Furthermore, the Network Information Table contains additional information for receivers and set-top boxes. With the help of the NIT information, which is part of the DVB standard, digital receivers can search all transponders of a satellite for additional programs.
