media interface adapter (FC) (MIA)
A Media Interface Adapter (MIA) is a media converter that converts copper-based FC transmission media to optical fiber. One side of the media converter has the DB-9Sub-D connector for the copper lines, the other has a duplex SC connector for the optical fibers.
The MIA media converter is powered via the Sub-D connector. It can be used to extend the copper-based transmission links to over 30 m. With a media interface adapter, hostbus adapters( HBA) with copper connection can be converted to multimode fiber.
