managed object (NM) (MO)

Managed Objects(MO) form the abstract representation of a managed network.

Managed Objects are formed by existing and integrated network components, and by software components that communicate with other network components.

If, for example, a scanner is a Managed Object, then all relevant scanner information such as the resolution, the scan status, the color resolution, the feed, etc. belong to the displayed MO information. The database in which the Managed Objects are filed and stored is the Management Information Base( MIB). Managed Objects are dynamic and can communicate with other managed network resources.

The description and management of Managed Objects is defined in the Guidelines for Definition of Managed Objects( GDMO).
