logical channel identifier (X.25) (LCI)

The Logical Channel Identifier (LCI) is a data field in the X.25data packet.

The Logical Channel Identifier (LCI) is made up of the Logical Group Number ( LGN) and the Logical Channel Number (LCN). The 12 bits of the LCI can be used to define up to 4,096 logical channels. The LGN can be used to divide these logical channels into 16 groups of 256 channels each, and the LCN can be used to identify these channel groups. The LCN can be used to mark the individual channels within a group.
