initialization mode (HDLC) (IM)

initializationmode(IM) is an auxiliary operating mode of the HDLC protocol. The protocol enters this mode when programs are to be loaded to control the transmission section or parameters are to be exchanged for a working mode. The preparation mode is initiated by the master station or the hybrid station.
