indication (OSI) (IND)

Indication (IND) is one of four service primitives defined by the Open Systems Interconnection( OSI) in the service model between a service user, a client, and the service provider.

The other service primitives are the initiating request from a service user, such as a browser, to a service provider, a web server, and the confirmation. The indication is a service primitive that receives the request from the service user and forwards it to the service provider for further processing.
