High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) are about generating high levels of electromagnetic radiation for testing aircraft and military equipment.

High Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF) electromagnetic emission is used to test the susceptibility and immunity of equipment and systems so that when exposed to high levels of radiation during operation, the systems will function properly. The power and field strengths generated depend on the frequency and are 2.2 kW at frequencies up to 100 MHz and 200 V/m at 40 GHz.
