E-billing stands for electronic billing and refers to the business practice of sending invoices to customers electronically, as opposed to the traditional way of sending invoices by mail.

E-billing, or e-invoicing, is becoming increasingly important because it involves significantly lower costs for postage, paper and handling, for example. It is also much faster, as it can be sent via e-mail services or short message service( SMS). Critical issues are data protection and invoice fraud. The danger with e-billing is that e-mails can be intercepted or forged.
