electronic bill presentation and payment (EBPP)

Electronic Bill Presentation and Payment (EBPP) is about electronic accounting. The aim is to electronically process the paper-based structures that have been customary up to now for creating, sending and paying invoices.

Since invoicing is characterized by company-specific financial structures, electronic invoices can be sent as an attachment to an e-mail, via the World Wide Web(WWW) or by means of Electronic Data Interchange( EDI). The invoice recipient thus receives invoices in different file formats in different ways. This is to be standardized by the EBPP procedure.

As far as financial institutions are concerned, they are not necessarily willing to implement the EBPP protocol because EBPP does not fully support other banking services and because they fear for lucrative transfer orders.

With EBPP, there is a rudimentary possibility to provide the debtor with a compilation of all invoices. This consolidating model is called the Consolidator Model( CM).
