electrically alterable ROM (EAROM)

An Electrically Alterable Read Only Memory (EAROM) is an electrically alterable read only memory.

Unlike an Erasable PROM( EPROM), an EAROM can be erased and rewritten by the user. Each bit cell can be individually erased and electrically programmed. The individual bit cells may be those of a transistor or MOSFET and store their charge in a microcapacitance. The read-in and read-out of the bit cell is done by controlling the gate electrode.
