dilution of precision (GPS) (DOP)

Dilution of Precision(DOP) is the inaccuracy in satellite navigation.

It gives an indication of the constellation of satellite positions and how they negatively affect position determination due to poor geometry. The smallest position errors are amplified by poor geometry. In satellite navigation, a distinction is made between different standard deviations such as the GDOP (Geometric), HDOP (Horizontal), PDOP (Position), VDOP (Vertical), TDOP (Time) and RDOP (Relative).
