diffused coupler

A diffused coupler is an optical coupler used to combine or split different wavelengths transmitted in an optical fiber. In contrast to biconical taper couplers and bending couplers, diffused couplers have a low attenuation. Diffused couplers are manufactured by diffusing grooves into a glass substrate, in which the modes are then guided.
