The Dedicated Mode is a purpose-built operating mode. The term Dedicated Mode is always used when a dedicated, specially intended operating mode is involved. For example, in information security, network technology, and mobile communications.

In information security, dedicated mode refers to a security mode in which each individual user with direct or indirect access to the computer system, its peripherals, or remote hosts, have valid security clearances for all computer system information. In addition, formal access confirmation and as well as agreements to be kept secret of all information stored on the computer system. In such a system, a computer may support dedicated mode security for certain information only.

In networking, for example, Dedicated Mode may be a dedicated server responsible only for certain network tasks. The actual applications run either on other servers or on the workstations.

In mobile communications, dedicated mode is the operating mode in which a mobile station has an active connection to the network and occupies a channel. In this mode, the network specifies all the essential connection parameters, including the cell with which the connection is established.
