Computer-Mediated Reality stands for computer-mediated reality and describes the addition of tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices to perceived reality. In this process, the sensed reality with its real objects can be changed by adding, superimposing, removing or manipulating virtual objects.

The representation of the mediated reality is influenced by programs that perform a visual filtering function between the real representation and the one perceived by the user. Visual perception is improved by the representations implemented by means of computer-mediated reality, which is why this technology is also suitable for people with visual impairments or the visually impaired.
