A Business Support System (BSS) is a system used to manage customer data and billing information.

For network operators, a BSs system supports the processing of requests for services, the establishment of interconnection lines, the billing of charges, and the response to inquiries.

BSS systems are often built for the various telecommunication services, voice services, data services, fixedcommunications and mobile communications. As competition in telecommunication services continues to increase, service providers need to add or expand their services in short term. Accordingly, BSS systems must be structured more efficiently and be able to respond flexibly to customer requests for special services.
