atmosphère explosibles (ATEX)

Atmosphère Explosibles (ATEX) is a European directive for explosion-proof equipment.

This directive is known as ATEX 95 and ATEX 100a. It deals with the primary and secondary explosion protection that must be ensured in components, equipment and devices of electronics and information technology according to ATEX.

Primary explosion protection describes measures that prevent the formation of an explosive atmosphere. Secondary explosion protection, on the other hand, prevents an explosive atmosphere from exploding. The latter starts with the operating components.

Since July 2003, electrical equipment must comply with the ATEX Directive 95/9/ EC.
