advanced video coding (H.264) (AVC)
Advanced Video Coding (AVC) is a video compression introduced in the ITU standardH.264 and used in combination H.264/AVC.
The term "Advanced" refers to the improvement of the compression method compared to MPEG-4, which refers to many detail improvements. For example, AVC encoding uses a block size of 4x4 pixels, with which image details are better represented, and makes better use of image information from previous frames for prediction.
