Waste Electrical Equipment Register

The Foundation Elektro-Altgeräte-Register (EAR) is an institution authorized by the Federal Environment Agency to perform certain taskswithin the framework of the Electrical Waste Act(ElektroG). It is a body set up by manufacturers to register producers and issue orders for the collection of WEEE from local transfer points. The EAR is a non-profit organization that finances its activities through fees. These are set by the Federal Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The EAR Foundation monitors the obligations of manufacturers and importers and can enforce them if necessary.
