Municipal area computer centre

A municipal area computer centre (KGRZ) was an institution of the Länder, municipalities or municipal associations. Such a computer centre was used by municipalities, cities and communities for EDP services. Municipal data centers were installed in the 1970s, when the investment costs for computers, mainframes and mainframes were still extremely high. In addition, the costs for data processing and data transmission and the expenses for software, security, maintenance and support could hardly be met by private companies.
