Mioty, the name is derived from "My Internet of Things", is a protected brand name for a Low Power WAN(LPWAN). It was developed by the Fraunhofer Institute and specified as an ETSIstandard. The LPWAN Mioty targets Industrie 4.0 and the related Internet of Things(IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT). Mioty is extremely robust because the Mioty protocol uses convolutional codes and a code rate of 1/3 to transmit the data. Telegram splitting, in which the signals from the sensors are divided into several small subpackets and transmitted at different frequencies with a time delay, also contributes to the robustness. Telegram splitting also helps increase efficiency. The low-cost nodes can be used to transmit data from around 1 million sensors over distances of 15 km with just one receiver. Like most LPWANs - LoRaWAN, Sigfox or NB-IoT - Mioty uses frequencies in the license-free sub-gigahertz range at 868 MHz
