European committee of domestic equipment manufacturers (CECED)

CECED, as the European umbrella organization of household appliance manufacturers, takes care of the concerns of household appliance manufacturers and of the networking of appliances.

CECED was already founded in 1958 by national, Western European associations and has been based in Brussels since 1997. Since that time companies can also become members of CECED. In 2006 the number of direct members was 15, in addition to 24 national associations from 22 countries.

One of CECED's objectives is to include household appliances in the home network. These include refrigerators and stoves, hotplates and dryers, freezers and washing machines, as well as many smaller appliances. CECED has developed CHAIN for this intelligent networking.
