home network (HN)

In the terminology of the Internet Engineering Task Force ( IETF), the term Home Network (HN) is used in the context of the allocation of mobile IP addresses, the Mobile IP. The home network is the network in which the mobile terminal, the Mobile Node ( MN), is registered with its permanent home address ( HA) and can be reached. All connections to the mobile terminal are switched via the home network, regardless of the foreign network in which the mobile terminal is currently located.
