zone distribution area (ZDA)

A Zone Distribution Area (ZDA) is a cabling concept used in data centers

. It is used when server racks are not yet available. The ZDA infrastructure provides structured cabling in the underfloor or above the racks and thus ensures the prerequisites for subsequent cabling of further racks, also in relation to the Horizontal Distribution Area (HDA). The difference between the Zone Distribution Area (ZDA) and the Equipment Distribution Area (EDA) is that the cables are terminated in the EDA racks, while the ZDA area uses distribution components that are located outside the server racks.
