ytterbium (Yb)

Ytterbium, chemical symbol Yb, is a chemical element and belongs to the rare earths. It is used in fiber lasers and fiber amplifiers for doping the core glass and determines the wavelength of the fiber laser. This is 1,030 nm. Ytterbium has the atomic number 70 in the periodic table of the elements.
