write through (Memory) (WT)

Write Through(WT) is one of two procedures that involve reconciling the contents from the processor cache with those from the main memory. The second procedure is Write Back( WB).

Since the central processing unit initially works with the data stored in the processor cache, this data is more up-to-date than that of the working memory. The working memory must therefore be updated with the data stored in the cache.

With the write-through method, the changes in the working memory occur with each data block as soon as the data in the cache has changed. It is different with the write-back procedure. With this method, the data blocks in the working memory are not changed until the updated copy has been removed from the cache.
