wiring closet (wiring) (WC)

The distribution room forms the transfer point from one cabling area to another, e.g. from the premises c abling to the building c abling or from the building cabling to the floor cabling.

The distribution room with the floor distributor is the strategic center of the cabling, where the various media of the risers and the floor cabling converge. It contains active and passive components(distribution cabinets with hubs, star couplers, bridges, routers, ring line distributors, patch panels, etc.) and serves as an interface for changing transmission media and communication networks and services. In addition, it is used as a maintenance and measuring station.

A distribution room has to meet certain requirements in terms of location, accessibility and environmental conditions, which should be taken into account when planning a cabling system. These requirements include central location and easy access, sufficient space for the distribution cabinets with the possibility of front and rear access, the space required for the measuring equipment, lockability and sufficient equipment with connection sockets, sockets, lighting and telephone.
