wireless overlay network (WON)

WLAN overlay networks (WON) are WLAN networks that are set up in parallel to wired Ethernet networks

and cover them. Such WON networks are not to be regarded as a supplement to Gigabit Ethernet, which is connected to access points (AP) in GbE networks, but as an independent WLAN infrastructure that covers the company premises. All employees and work groups can dial into the wireless overlay

networkand communicate mobilely on the company premises.

For security, WLAN overlay networks are only connected to the wired corporate network at a central point.
