Wireless Multimedia and Messaging Service is to be expanded as a broadband radio access system that will provide access to WIMS service to multiple users. It was planned to be compatible with ISDN and to use Frequency Division Duplex( FDD). In the first implementation phase, the bandwidth of WIMS was 5 MHz, for data rates as low as 16 kbit/s. In the following implementation phase, it was increased to 10 MHz and later to 20 MHz. Data rates of 2.4 Mbit/s are achieved over the latter.
The developments make it clear that WIMS is not accepted by the industry and therefore does not find support.
