wireless interface for sensors and actors (WISA)

Wireless Interface for Sensors and Actors (WISA) is a radio transmission system for the control of automation systems.

The physical layer complies with the IEEE 802.15.1 standard used in Bluetooth and uses the frequency hopping scheme( FHSS) with 79 hopping frequencies. The frequency hopping method from WISA takes into account a large minimum hopping distance and a time grid of 2 ms to ensure interference-free radio transmission. Within this 2-ms time grid, up to 60 sensors and actuators can communicate with each other.

Since WISA operates with a low transmission power of only 1 mW, the cellular networks consist of many picocells via which communication can take place within the factory building. Like ZigBee, WISA is characterized by extremely low energy consumption, it has a deterministic time response and can be used by any number of participants.
