Web bots are used for methodical research into future trends and techniques. These robots, also known as Internet bots, capture the entries in chats, blogs, newsgroups and discussion forums and examine the information according to predefined keywords.

Trend analyses can be derived from the changes in the choice of words, which in turn can be used to draw conclusions about future developments.

The postings captured by the web bots are subjected to a word choice analysis and weighted conceptually according to current, medium-term and long-term statements. Since the total number of forums, chats and blogs and their postings can easily comprise several hundred million, the weighting of the terms results in meaningful trends.
