virtual interface architecture (VIA)

Virtual Interface Architecture(VIA) is an I/O technique for exchanging data between processes or between memory areas running on different servers. VIA technology is based on stable networks with low latency and error rates and is therefore suitable for short distances in the in-house area.

The Virtual Interface Architecture (VIA) is part of InfiniBand and accelerates communication between applications bypassing the operating system. Communication between applications takes place directly via the network cards. For data exchange, a Virtual Interface( VI) is first established between the applications and a memory area is defined in both systems for data exchange. During data transfer, the data is transferred from one memory area to that of the other server. When all the data is in the memory area of the second server, the first server is notified.
